How We Started
In the spring of 1956, Harvey Martin enrolled in a correspondence course in commercial art. He was then drafted into the army in October 1957. After basic training, Harvey was transferred to France where he was assigned as post artist. While he was there, he used those 19 months as an opportunity to learn the trade of sign painting.
After returning from duty, Harvey moved to rural Metamora and started painting signs and lettering trucks. In 1995, his son, Andrew, began helping with sign installation and office work.
From a Humble Hand Painting Business to a Full-Service Sign Company
With the introduction of personal computers, Martin Sign Service evolved beyond the art of hand-painting and implemented vinyl lettering and digital color graphics. At present, our business operates as a full-service sign and graphics company serving not only local clients in Central Illinois but national corporations as well.
To this day, after many years and thousands of clients served, we remain thankful to each company and organization that continually depend on us for their signage needs. Their loyalty and trust fuel our team to always strive for excellence in every work we do.
